Listen, DIY is a learning process. It’s learning the skills you need to accomplish the task you wish to achieve and hoping you execute it properly. Or at least, that’s how I look at it 😅
If you don’t keep a sense of humor throughout the process you’ll end up quitting before you even get started. There will be bumps in the road, and times when you want to walk away from a project, but often times, when that happens to me, I take a step back from it and reimagine the space as I envisioned. Then I come back at it a few days later with a fresh and clear head. Bottom line here is, whether your just beginning or been doing it for years, there are always oopsies and ouchies, but don’t let it defeat you! Stick with it! You’ll be happy you did 🥹🥳

❓What would you say is your biggest hold up with taking on a project at home yourself? 🤨

In the beginning, I started with small furniture flips. Got comfortable using my drill, and different types of sanding methods. Then played around with different paint brushes, rollers, and paint types. Eventually I moved onto the larger (more scary) tools like saws 😳 and was SO intimidated by the thought of doing bigger projects by myself.

But you know what?

✨ That first project may have taken longer than I hoped, but I look at it everyday and smile knowing I pushed my way through and have taken on projects three times it’s size since 🙌🏼

There are so many ways some creative thinking, a little research, hard work and follow through can change even the smallest of spaces. Start small with your first DIY home project. Do the research and keep at it!

Happy Friday!
For some of us, this is the “last weekend” of summer for our kiddos before school starts. It may be hot but I encourage you to #getoutside and make some lasting memories with your littles. There’s nothing better than letting them just be kids outside. Let them be silly. Let them be curious. Let them ask you all the questions. We as parents may not have all the answers, but the fact that they’re interested and want to learn says a lot for the person they will grow in to be. Cast the shadow of leader by showing them how to be curious and how to have an adventurous nature.
Taking a walk outside is free, and your kids will love you for it ☺️

Carter Falls in Elkin NC is a great hike to a beautiful open waterfall and swimming area that both adults and kids enjoy. There are tons of locations to park and hike in depending on how much exercise you’re looking for. We chose a short route since we have little legs in tow and they did such a great job! This is a beautiful spot and one I highly recommend to take as a family weekend trip! See more of our experience here:

• Half Bathroom is done! 👌🏼
Another vision that started on a mood board come to life! I could not be happier. Board and batten really does bring a design element even to the smallest of spaces. The colors compliment the boho farmhouse vibe I have created throughout my entire first floor (minus the kitchen which is in the works) and I love how much nicer it feels to walk in there.

My big girl has finished preschool and is off to “big school!”
As a rising Kindergartener I am so confident she will do amazing and I cannot believe her first year of schooling is done. God could not have sent a better teacher as her first then Mrs. Kristen. Caroline had such a wonderful year attending Cross Kids Preschool, and we highly recommend their program!

In this journey of motherhood, preparing our children is our top priority and between Morgan and I, and her awesome year at preschool, I’m so confident she’ll be great at elementary. When she got her little diploma and they said congratulations high school class of 2036, I have to say that really got me 🥹🫠😭😭

We love you baby girl, I can’t wait to see what you become 💖

Easy DIY kid crafts to do at home are HUGE on my summer to-do list this year. There are so many fun things that can be created out of daily recyclables, I’m looking forward to sharing some of my favorites over the next few weeks. A DIY bird feeder was called for as the season was getting warmer and our backyard has been filled with happy morning chirps, we wanted to give our bird friends a cool hang out spot.

All you need is:
- milk jug or juice jug
- paint (we mostly used outdoor acrylics)
- Scissors
- Hot glue
- Sticks from the yard
- Stem cutters (or something sturdy enough to cut sticks)
- Eye hook
- Twine
- Scrap wood planks (@dollartree also has plain planks)

It is as simple as clean the jug, painting the jug to your liking, cutting the windows, glueing the sticks how you want (our bird friends like to perch on them), hang the whole thing on the wood plank, and set in a tree!

When we bought our house 4 years ago, I knew most of the light fixtures were going to have to go! Luckily I’ve partnered with @progressltg to upgrade my favorite spaces in my home with the most modern, in style and technology, lighting finds!

The first new addition was this new beautiful ceiling fan for the living room. I looked for multiple speeds, durability, and above all, LED lighting for longevity and quality of light for our living space.

On days when you are exhausted, the kids aren’t behaving, the house is a mess, just know You’re doing a great job. Motherhood is crazy. Never in a million years did I think my heart would be this full. It aches and breaks, feels overwhelming joy, and love all at the same time.
