AD | How many of you have already planted some seeds for spring? How many of you have always wanted to try but feel too overwhelmed?! I am partnered up with @walmart to share some garden starting tips and essentials I use to make sure I have a fruitful and blooming garden this year. I ordered my garden starting tools from Walmart.com and they were on my doorstep a few days later. Great tools to get started include:

• All Purpose Plant Food 🌿 - your flowers and veggies will thank you!
• Tomato & Vegetable Plant Food 🍅🥕 - use this and watch those tomatoes thrive!
• Landscaping Cloth and Pins - this is the best way to keep out pesky weeds!
• 50’ hose 💦
• Multi Pattern Nozzle - a must have for watering and keeping the garden clean!

This is my 5th year being a home gardener and the first year of doing a truly large build, so I need reliable products that I know will work and last to get through my project. The video shows a large portion of my backyard being cut away. I plan to cover this area in landscaping cloth, put in 3 large raised beds with an arch trellis, and finish with river rocks. Loving myself and who I am is something no one can ever take away from me. Something happened within me after having babies that truly shifted my perspective on body positivity and self love. Repeat these to yourself daily. I remind myself of these and teach them to my daughters as well.

My 2 year old loves to be included in everything I do. She is very curious and all it takes is a little explanation and patience and she does great helping me out! I started our seeds about 3 weeks ago and they are thriving. I love teaching my girls the importance of growing your own good and self sustainability. Board and Batten Entryway makeover! 🪚🔨🔧

This is part 2 of the series, you can catch one a few reels back which shows the planning, shopping and prepping of all the pieces needed for this project. There’s a clip I included that shows the board sizes I use but here is everything:

• 1x4 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 1x3 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 1x2 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 8” Miter Saw
• Electric Sander
• Brad Nailer
• Wood Filler
• Caulk
• Baby Wipes (few reels back explains this 😊)

Overall Board and Batten is a pretty doable DIY for beginners so I highly recommend it! This look goes with lots of interior styles, it’s all in how you dress it up! When the final reel is up showing how I styled it I will have a full blog post up with all the minute details of the project.

I just love how it adds a little warmth and character to the entryway! What do you think?

LuminoCity Festival is in Raleigh NC at Pullen Park, and it’s such a fun family event! There is so much to see at almost every angle. We each had our own favorites from the Alice in Wonderland exhibits to the Dinosaurs, to riding the antique carousel, there was something new at every turn and we all had a great time! The girls loved the 3D light shows and the fact that it was right in the middle of one of our favorite playgrounds made for lots to do!

The DIY Faux Fireplace is now completely done 😊 The insert is in and I think it’s so cute! It took a couple different ideas to land on the final product, but sometimes that’s just how projects like these go! I wanted something not so permanent in the middle (since I couldn’t make up my mind) so I went with a foam board backing and @command velcro strips to secure it in place.

I added the tiny mirrored squares that the wood rounds to add a little dimension and disco ball look. It adds even more sparkle and character to the room!

This DIY Faux Fireplace wall came out just as cozy cute as I imagined 🙏🏼✨ We mounted a TV in the playroom for movie nights and sleepovers, then Morgan got a PS5 which naturally should go in a playroom. I found myself needing a shelf and thought a quaint little faux mantle would do perfectly to add a little charm to the space!

🔨 Living Room Shiplap Accent Wall DIY part 3 ✨
Here’s where we really get into it.
I am so psyched to be putting my @ryobitoolsusa brad nailer I got for Christmas to good use 💪🏼 I requested it just for projects like this one. This was the main leg of work and basic completion of the living room shiplap accent wall minus putting the switch covers back on and decorating. Some things these short little videos don’t give time to mention is the process after all the shiplap was up and BEFORE you paint.

• Use wood filler to cover all the nail spots.
• Sand them down (don’t be janky like us, use some drop cloth and cover your room🤣).
• Cheese cloth and wipe down the walls to clear any saw dust.
• Paint horizontally, not vertically like you would a regular wall.
• Use the same paint on the light and power socket cover.

This was not a super budget friendly project because I decided to go with real, primed, shiplap planks instead of trying to DIY shiplap with MDF or some other cheaper material. BUT I don’t regret anything and I think it brings a ton of character to our small space! Ask me questions!

💕 🪩 What’s Galentine’s Day?!? Why, it’s only the best day of the year!! I absolutely love throwin...

✨ Living room shiplap accent wall part 2! 🔨

You helped me decide on the design and now it’s time for execution. These projects don’t happen in one day when you’re a work at home mom so I’ll be showing projects in parts to give a more realistic idea of time management.

Start with clearing off the wall completely and washing it down. Those wall sconces gave me a run for my money. Thankfully this project is covering the wall up with shiplap planks! Once everything was off and wiped down, it’s off to @loweshomeimprovement for all the supplies!

This morning, our local #LowesHomeImprovement held a #DIYClass for littles and the girls had such a blast using tools and building their own snowman frames! The employees were so helpful and the girls made some new friends. We can’t wait for the next class, they’re building birdhouses!

We now have all the supplies and are ready to put it all together 👍 Stick around for part 3 this weekend to see the living room shiplap accent wall completed!

I am 80% done with the faux fireplace insert and then I want to show you allllll the things. I’m excited to show you how simple the fireplace itself was but this insert was a vision that took some trial and error to execute let me tell you what!!!

The next DIY and I would love your input on my two options I’m torn between for the living room wall!

This Shiplap accent wall is underway and now I need to decide about the frames! I plan to rehang the light fixtures higher and with no cords. But I need to figure out if I want to do 3 extra large frames in between or 6 smaller sized ones.

Would you go 3, or 6?! I’ve done some rough mock ups in my stories.

EASY HACK for hanging frames and wall art! 🔨
The Frames that have the two separate metal hanging pieces on the back used to be the bane of my DIY passions, until I discovered this hack and just had to share! This is a huge time saver and hole saver because I cannot tell you how many times I would have to redo the holes because it wasn’t lined up well enough 😰 and I do not like relying on other people to help me finish a job so this really saved me to complete some decorating jobs for sure! 🫶

I love finding ways to recycle different items and turn them into fun useful party decor! Since Caroline is in school now, I thought it would be a fun way to collect her Valentine’s Day cards from her friends. We’ll also be using it at the Galentine’s day party! Recycling boxes and craft supplies is such an easy way I love to reduce waste and make some super cute for us to use for years! Here’s all it takes:

• Small size box
• Really strong scissors (@fiskars is my top choice!)
• Streamers
• Tacky Glue @aleenesdiy is the best 🫶
• Large heart stickers (these are from @dollartree )
• Hot Glue (my @ryobitoolsusa cordless is a dream)
• Ribbon
• Mirrored glass/Disco Ball material
• Push Pins

It took one afternoon to finish it and the girls love toting it around the house.

Just choose not to feel stupid. I wish I had developed this maturity like 10 years ago. Self Confidence is a learned behavior. There are some who may have just always been that way, but many (like me) decide one day that they can do anything they put their mind to. Lean into that. Push out any thoughts of what others will be thinking of you, ESPECIALLY the thoughts of “does this make me look stupid.”

Do what you love and do it confidently.

No one fulfilled their dreams by holding back because of what others thought of them. Wear that amazing outfit it it makes you happy and makes you feel good. Paint that room or take on that DIY to challenge yourself one day. You CAN do it! As I’m looking through many of my videos from 2022 I’m realizing the common theme of connecting. Making memories that leave a joyous impression on my daughters is always my top priority. So many videos I captured I never shared of precious memories I want to hold on to just for me. In 2023, I want to create deeper connections with everyone around me and to teach my girls to do the same. This time in our lives, as young parents with young children, everyday is impressionable. I Choose joy, laughter, and love because each day is all in how you make the people around you feel, as well as yourself. Connect with yourself like you never have. Connect with your family. For old times’ sake.

Okay I think that’s the last of my sappy motherhood posts for a little bit🤪 Now it’s time to get down to some big projects coming up for the Odom and The Boho Diaries home💪🏼 I have a few things planned over the next two months, but the big project I’m taking on this year is the kitchen reno! I’ve been planning it for a year and our kitchen is not even that big but I’ve been saving and planning out the best partners to take this on with and I cannot wait to watch that unfold! 🙏🏼

Every moment is not joyous and happy. This year came with lots of trials, and loss. Choosing to let the good outweigh the bad is one way I move forward when I am down. 2022 brought so many challenges and raised fears I never knew I could have, but every step God was there. I am forever grateful and stay forever faithful to His journey He has laid for me.

Praying for everyone in the 2023 year 🙏🏼 this prayer:

God, I pray that we all go into 2023 as shepherds for you.
I pray for those who faced great loss. For those facing extreme health issues, for those feeling lost.
I pray this is the year they find You, Lord.
I pray they get to witness your extreme mercy and grace. Your abundant blessings.
I pray for fearlessness in 2023. For faith that you are my wings and I will work hard and soar on your never ending love.
I pray for peace, comfort, and warmth for all who are struggling and that You use me in ways that bring light and joy to all I can reach.
Thank you God for the endless blessings I have received from you.
I pray that Morgan and I are raising our girls in the right way to know You, love You, and follow You, so that they too can share you light with everyone they can.
Thank you Lord, I love you.

One year ago I put on my resolution list that I would get my voice on my channels. Some how, some way, one day in 2022 I would start sharing one of my biggest lifelong passions in this space. Well, at least now I can say I didn’t let 1-year-ago Nicki down😅 I’ve had many friends encourage me to do it, but all the self confidence in the world cannot prepare you for the vulnerability that comes with exposing your deepest passions to the world. What do you think, should I keep sharing?

I sure do hope that 1-year-ago Nicki would be so proud of everything I have accomplished in 2022. Here’s just a glimpse recap of what I am proud of and fears I overcame that I didn’t let own me:

✨ Traveled with two toddlers on airplanes alone

✨ Laid plans for something really big and exciting in 2023🥳

I remember taking this photo like it was yesterday. I was 15 weeks pregnant with Ellie and scared about the amount of changes my body was about to take on again.

When I joined this talented team of ladies for the photoshoot, I tried to not show my reservations. I was so self conscious about my curves, the size I was wearing, and more. These women made me feel like a queen. No competition, no judgement, exactly how it should be. Finding body confidence and self love is not an easy journey. In the new year, if you’re struggling with loving what you see in the mirror, here are a few things I challenge you to do:

Surround Yourself With Positive People: •Spend time with people who make you feel good and remind you of your beauty.
• Living life is not a competition. Your journey is different then everyone around you. Be kind to others always.
• Remember that you are more than your body and that your worth is not determined by your appearance.
