My big girl has finished preschool and is off to “big school!”
As a rising Kindergartener I am so confident she will do amazing and I cannot believe her first year of schooling is done. God could not have sent a better teacher as her first then Mrs. Kristen. Caroline had such a wonderful year attending Cross Kids Preschool, and we highly recommend their program!

In this journey of motherhood, preparing our children is our top priority and between Morgan and I, and her awesome year at preschool, I’m so confident she’ll be great at elementary. When she got her little diploma and they said congratulations high school class of 2036, I have to say that really got me 🥹🫠😭😭

We love you baby girl, I can’t wait to see what you become 💖

Easy DIY kid crafts to do at home are HUGE on my summer to-do list this year. There are so many fun things that can be created out of daily recyclables, I’m looking forward to sharing some of my favorites over the next few weeks. A DIY bird feeder was called for as the season was getting warmer and our backyard has been filled with happy morning chirps, we wanted to give our bird friends a cool hang out spot.

All you need is:
- milk jug or juice jug
- paint (we mostly used outdoor acrylics)
- Scissors
- Hot glue
- Sticks from the yard
- Stem cutters (or something sturdy enough to cut sticks)
- Eye hook
- Twine
- Scrap wood planks (@dollartree also has plain planks)

It is as simple as clean the jug, painting the jug to your liking, cutting the windows, glueing the sticks how you want (our bird friends like to perch on them), hang the whole thing on the wood plank, and set in a tree!

When we bought our house 4 years ago, I knew most of the light fixtures were going to have to go! Luckily I’ve partnered with @progressltg to upgrade my favorite spaces in my home with the most modern, in style and technology, lighting finds!

The first new addition was this new beautiful ceiling fan for the living room. I looked for multiple speeds, durability, and above all, LED lighting for longevity and quality of light for our living space.

AD | Hooray for gardening season!👩🏼‍🌾🪴🎉 Over the past few weeks I have partnered with @walmart to flex my #ExpertGardenerGreenThumb and I can honestly say their products do not disappoint! I finished my new garden build using tools and supplies from #WalmartLawnandGarden and couldn’t be happier with how it’s turned out!

The Expert Gardener Weed Landscape Fabric and Heavy Duty Landscape Pins laid the base for this entire garden build. The Expert Gardener light duty 50ft hose and multi pattern nozzle are perfect for watering, cleaning and overall usage for my garden and lawn upkeep. I can easily move around without getting kinks in the hose and love the options the nozzle has!
I can definitely tell the difference between my vegetables and flowers I planted last year without the Expert Gardener Plant Food, versus using it this year. They are growing faster and heartier and I can wait to see the first harvest from all of it! It’s wild to think back to my 20s, even high school sometimes, remembering how hard I was on myself about my image. Beauty, body image, persona, everything back then seemed so important to impress and meet the perception of what society tells us is perfection or magazine-worthy pretty. Being thick, or freckly, round or bumpy, all of this is SO common and all of this is beautiful.

As you get older, it’s normal to shift focus towards health and well-being rather than trying to conform to societal beauty standards, and I truly wish I could tell young Nicki how little all of those worries actually mattered.

Life experiences and personal growth can lead to a greater appreciation and acceptance of our bodies and all they have done for us. My body has carried me through 2 pregnancies and 30+ years of crazy adventures, with many more years of health and fun to come.

If you’re reading this and in those young years, please know you are beautiful JUST THE WAY YOU ARE. Comparison is the thief of joy and there is NO ONE out there that has what you have for this world.

If you’re reading this and in your 30s-40s, please know you are beautiful JUST THE WAY YOU ARE and you’re doing great. Pave your way and stand confidently.

Your body, your beauty, you’re amazing. Look at yourself in the mirror today, smile, and give that person some love.

If I stopped every time I got something wrong on the first try, I would basically be no where. There’s not much I can attest to getting perfectly right on the FIRST TRY. But let me tell you, no amount of intimidation or fear of failure should stop you from taking on something you feel really strongly about.

If it’s taking on a home project, working on your self love, trying a new craft, don’t let failure the first time keep you from reaching the full potential inside you! You CAN do it. It’s a matter of perspective, positivity, and consistency. The old saying is an old repeated saying for a reason:
“If at first you don’t succeed, try try again..” because that third try could be a life changer!

I reeled this little baby in last week off the coast of Bald Head Island. Even though he was tiny I was I super excited 😆 we had such a blast with family and friends in #BHI over spring break and I’ll be sharing it all on the blog in the new few days! I also have a fun full feature Vlog coming to my YouTube channel of our sail, stay, and adventures there on the island. This trip got me so revved up for summer vacations, I’m ready for em all! 🌊☀️⛱️

Forever out in the garage, making some stuff, hoping it’s not going to be a stinker. 🙏🏼🥸

But really, I get so many dms and emails, and even seeing people in person who want to try their own DIYs at home and I always say the same thing, you just have to start!! Start small, so you don’t overwhelm yourself and give up on the first try. Take a small table or dresser, or maybe even a chair, and redo it to how you want it to look to fit in your space! My DMs are ALWAYS open if you are wanting to work on a project but don’t know where to start, I am happy to answer any questions. I wouldn’t even mind addressing it in a reel, post or story! I’m here to hopefully inspire and ignite a flame of motivation to take on your own project. The idea that what I’m doing could be a stinker is ALWAYS there, I don’t think that will ever go away. We’re human right? Mistakes will happen. DIY can be a lot of trial and error. It’s the matter of knowing what you want the end result to be and following through using research you’ve seen here or where I’ve learned most of mine, Youtube! 😆

I’m not sure what will happen with social media, but I truly love what I share and the connections I’ve made on here. It’s an interesting business to get into to, but overall the community is what has kept me going. I’m just going to keep posting attainable DIYs, curvy style, and hosting tips, as well as my cute kids occasionally 😊, and I am hoping you stick around, enjoy it, and possibly share with others who might like it too!

You can do whatever you really put your mind and effort to! Don’t give up on a dream of having a beautiful home, because you have the power to make it happen. 🫶

AD | How many of you have already planted some seeds for spring? How many of you have always wanted to try but feel too overwhelmed?! I am partnered up with @walmart to share some garden starting tips and essentials I use to make sure I have a fruitful and blooming garden this year. I ordered my garden starting tools from Walmart.com and they were on my doorstep a few days later. Great tools to get started include:

• All Purpose Plant Food 🌿 - your flowers and veggies will thank you!
• Tomato & Vegetable Plant Food 🍅🥕 - use this and watch those tomatoes thrive!
• Landscaping Cloth and Pins - this is the best way to keep out pesky weeds!
• 50’ hose 💦
• Multi Pattern Nozzle - a must have for watering and keeping the garden clean!

This is my 5th year being a home gardener and the first year of doing a truly large build, so I need reliable products that I know will work and last to get through my project. The video shows a large portion of my backyard being cut away. I plan to cover this area in landscaping cloth, put in 3 large raised beds with an arch trellis, and finish with river rocks. Not to be cliche, but confidence is key in life.
Loving myself and who I am is something no one can ever take away from me. Something happened within me after having babies that truly shifted my perspective on body positivity and self love. Repeat these to yourself daily. I remind myself of these and teach them to my daughters as well.

• Style is not a size.
• I’m always beautiful, even on the dirtiest, grungiest days.
• I am more than measurements.
• I believe in myself
• I have always been enough.

Confidence is knowing that no one else can bring what you have to offer. That no matter your size, how jiggly your legs or arms are, how your hair just isn’t behaving today, that you are happy with who you are and want to share that happiness with the world. Let you light shine. Life is too precious to waste it hiding in the shadows because you care too much of what some might think. I believe in you. You are beautiful. Look in the mirror and remind yourself everyday.

My 2 year old loves to be included in everything I do. She is very curious and all it takes is a little explanation and patience and she does great helping me out! I started our seeds about 3 weeks ago and they are thriving. I love teaching my girls the importance of growing your own good and self sustainability. Board and Batten Entryway makeover! 🪚🔨🔧

This is part 2 of the series, you can catch one a few reels back which shows the planning, shopping and prepping of all the pieces needed for this project. There’s a clip I included that shows the board sizes I use but here is everything:

• 1x4 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 1x3 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 1x2 Square Edge Primed Spruce Pine Boards
• 8” Miter Saw
• Electric Sander
• Brad Nailer
• Wood Filler
• Caulk
• Baby Wipes (few reels back explains this 😊)

Overall Board and Batten is a pretty doable DIY for beginners so I highly recommend it! This look goes with lots of interior styles, it’s all in how you dress it up! When the final reel is up showing how I styled it I will have a full blog post up with all the minute details of the project.

I just love how it adds a little warmth and character to the entryway! What do you think?

LuminoCity Festival is in Raleigh NC at Pullen Park, and it’s such a fun family event! There is so much to see at almost every angle. We each had our own favorites from the Alice in Wonderland exhibits to the Dinosaurs, to riding the antique carousel, there was something new at every turn and we all had a great time! The girls loved the 3D light shows and the fact that it was right in the middle of one of our favorite playgrounds made for lots to do!

The @luminocityfestival will be there until 4/9, So come out and join the fun!
